The evening also includes a colourful Buchaechum (Korean Fan Dance) showcase by participants of the recent KCCSA workshop. Dressed in vibrant hanbok and dancing with peony-adorned fans, they bring to life one of Korea’s most iconic traditional performances. Immerse yourself in the art of traditional Korean knotting, where you’ll learn a variety of beautiful knots to create your own unique bracelets and scrolls. Over the course of four engaging sessions, you'll discover the history and techniques behind each knot, allowing you to craft stunning, meaningful pieces. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, this hands-on workshop offers an enriching journey into Korean craftsmanship. Participants must attend all 4 sessions to complete the course and fully enjoy the creative process. Traditional Knots ‘Maedeup’ (National Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 22) The traditional Korean craft of decorative knotting is ‘maedeup’, which is derived from the early practice of using knots in fishing nets and agricultural tools and later evolved into a form of decorative art. Immerse yourself in the graceful art of Korean calligraphy, where brush, ink, and paper come together to express beauty through words. In this four-session workshop, you'll explore traditional writing techniques, learn the meaning behind Hangeul characters, and create your own elegant works of art. Each session builds your skills while deepening your appreciation for this timeless craft. Whether you're completely new or already intrigued by calligraphy, this hands-on journey offers a peaceful and inspiring way to connect with Korean culture. Participants must attend all 4 sessions to complete the course and fully enjoy the creative process. Korean Calligraphy Korean calligraphy is an ancient and exquisite art form of writing, and calligraphy has a simple but strong beauty. Koreans view calligraphy as a highly regarded form of art and highly technical art of writing which is part of the Korean tradition. Moreover, in Asian cultures, creating calligraphy is seen as an act of discipline, as something one does to train their mind, and is much more than just a technical exercise.
