K-IDENTITY: A Deep Dive into Korean Identity
Curious about what shapes Korean identity today? K-Identity 2026 returns with a newly structured, module-based programme that explores key aspects of Korean society, culture, and history. Each module focuses on a specific theme, offering a more focused and flexible way to engage with Korea through a combination of online learning and in-person sessions. This year’s programme covers social values, religion, history, geography, food, language, and the arts, building a broader understanding of Korea through both study and discussion. PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP with Photographer Hyoung-Sik Jin Event Date 11.05.2026
Join us for a one-day photography workshop led by Hyoung-Sik Jin, offering a focused look at composition and visual storytelling. Held alongside his exhibition YOONSEUL, the workshop connects practical techniques with the artist’s own approach to photographing light, landscape, and fleeting moments. Participants will explore key compositional ideas and consider how images can be shaped through observation, framing, and timing. Hyoung-Sik Jin Hyoung-Sik Jin is a contemporary photographer known for his thoughtful exploration of light, time, and landscape. His work captures quiet, often overlooked moments, transforming them into reflections of memory and emotion. He has received multiple awards, including recognition in the Korean Air Photo Contest and the Hyundai Photography Competition, where he was selected among the “50 Photographers of the Year.” With a series of solo and group exhibitions across South Korea, his work continues to shape a distinctive visual language grounded in subtlety and depth. Fire on K-Noodle – Korean Ramyeon Cooking Competition
Get ready to turn up the heat with a creative twist on Korean noodles! In this special K-Noodle Competition hosted by the King Sejong Institute at the Korean Cultural Centre, participants are invited to transform Korean ramyeon (instant noodles) into something uniquely their own. By adding garnishes and ingredients inspired by South African landscapes, culture, and flavours, students will create dishes that tell a story of connection between Korea and South Africa. More than just cooking, this challenge is about creativity, presentation, and cultural imagination. We look forward to seeing how you bring your K-Noodle story to life! This programme is open only to students enrolled in the KSI Beginner (Level 1A) course. Welcome the Lunar New Year with Korean traditions at the Korean Cultural Centre! Join us for Seollal 2026, a joyful celebration filled with cultural experiences, traditional games, and festive food that bring Korea’s most important holiday to life. From wearing hanbok (traditional Korean clothing) to making mandu (Korean dumplings) and tasting classic New Year dishes, the day offers a warm and memorable way to experience Korean culture together. Seollal Seollal (설날) is Korea’s Lunar New Year and one of the most meaningful holidays of the year. Families gather to honour their ancestors, share traditional meals, and wish one another good fortune for the year ahead. It is a time of renewal, gratitude, and togetherness, celebrated with special foods, customs, and games passed down through generations.
