How has language shaped Korea's identity, history, and way of seeing the world?

Continuing the K-Identity 2026 programme, Module 4 explores the Korean language as more than a means of communication, examining how it reflects Korea's history, cultural values, identity, and everyday life. Through a combination of self-paced online learning and an in-person session, participants will discover the evolution of the Korean language, the significance of Hangeul, and the role language continues to play in shaping Korean society.

This module also includes an optional screening of Mal-Mo-E: The Secret Mission (2019), an inspiring historical drama that tells the story of ordinary people who risked everything to preserve the Korean language during the Japanese colonial period.
