Korean bass Euihyun PARK comes to South Africa this October for three special performances in Stellenbosch and Pretoria, bringing his deep, resonant voice to programmes spanning opera, classical songs, Korean art songs and orchestral repertoire.

From an Italian songbook performed with strings in Stellenbosch to an intimate KCC Music on Stage recital and a grand symphonic programme with the Gauteng Philharmonic Orchestra in Pretoria, each concert offers a different way to experience the richness and versatility of PARK’s voice.

Bass Euihyun PARK

Euihyun PARK is a Korean bass with an international career spanning opera, concerts and oratorios in Korea and Germany. He made his European debut at Theater Aachen in 2013 and has since appeared as a guest soloist at Theater Aachen and Theater Trier, while performing in more than 100 concerts and oratorios with ensembles including Collegium Musicum der RWTH Aachen.

On the opera stage, PARK has performed major bass roles including Sarastro in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute), Don Basilio in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville), Timur in Turandot, Sparafucile in Rigoletto and the Commendatore in Don Giovanni. He made his Korean debut as Sarastro with Korea National Opera in 2020 and later served as a resident soloist with the company from 2023 to 2024.

PARK holds the Konzertexamen, the highest performance distinction, in Opera from the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in Germany, where he also earned his Master of Music in Opera. He currently teaches at Seoul National University, Korea National University of Arts and the Catholic University of Korea.

PRETORIA | From Vienna to the New World

Gauteng Philharmonic Orchestra

PARK joins the Gauteng Philharmonic Orchestra for a grand symphonic programme journeying from Vienna to the New World. His featured repertoire includes Mahler’s Rückert-Lieder, Dvořák’s Going Home and Schubert’s An die Musik, alongside orchestral works by Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Johann Strauss II and Sibelius.
